NOTICE OF CLOSING: The Gilmer County Board of Assessors continues to monitor and evaluate the ongoing situation surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19). It is with the best interest of our citizens and employees that we implement the following actions. Effective Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at 3:00 pm: As a precaution and to limit exposure of person-to-person contact the Gilmer County Assessors Office will close to the public. As the situation continues to develop, adjustments may be made, if necessary. Citizens needing to conduct business with the Assessors Office should contact the department by email. We will reopen on July 13, 2020, this may be extended if necessary.
The Board of Tax Assessors provides and defends uniform fair market values on all taxable properties in Gilmer County to establish an equitable digest for the State of Georgia and to provide to the Board of Commissioners, the Board of Education, and the City of Ellijay, information to levy and collect property taxes.

The information contained herein reflects the values established in the "most current published" tax digest, and/or current tax year preliminary value information. *Please note that the Gilmer County Tax Assessor's Office establishes values only. Notice to the Gilmer County Property Owners, Occupants and Business Owners. In accordance with O.C.G.A 48-5-264.1, please be advised that the Gilmer County Appraisal Staff may be visiting your property to review your parcel for various reasons including but not limited to, an appeal filed, return filed, construction of new improvements or additions, review of the parcel and/or conservation use applications. The field appraiser(s) from our office will have photo identification and will be driving a marked county vehicle. If you have any questions, please contact our office at (706) 276-2742.
The Board of Assessors meetings are held in the Gilmer County Tax Assessor's Office every third Thursday of the month unless otherwise posted.
