Annual Deadlines

  • Homestead Application – April 1st for all full-time residents

In order to qualify for a homestead exemption, the applicant must own, occupy, meet any age and income requirements and claim the property as their legal residence on January 1st to be eligible for the year.  The applicant may claim exemptions on only one property; this includes other Georgia counties and other states. Exemptions are not automatic and each exemption must be applied for individually by April 1st. Applications can be filed in person or online. If you already have a homestead exemption you DO NOT have to apply every year unless you turned 62 or 65 in the prior year.

Taxpayer’s Return of Real Property – January 1st – April 1st

Specialized Assessment Program (Conservation Use, Forest Land Protection Act, Preferential Use) January 1st – April 1st  or during the 45-day appeal period

Personal Property Returns (online option available) January 1st – April 1st

Prebill Mobile Home appeals (online option available) January 1st – April 1st
