Carroll County Board of Tax Assessors

The Carroll County Board of Tax Assessors are not full-time. They serve on a part-time basis. The regular scheduled meetings are the third Tuesday of every month at 10:00 am at 997 Newnan Road, Carrollton, GA 30117.

Board members are appointed to a six-year term by the Carroll County Board of Commissioners. They operate autonomously. A chairman and secretary are elected at the first meeting of the year. The Board of Assessors hires a Chief Appraiser to administer the functions of property appraisal and assessment administration. Members of the Board of Tax Assessors may be reached by calling our office. Please remember that they serve on a part-time citizen's board and may not be available when you call or come in. Please leave a message with the Board of Tax Assessor's secretary and they will return your call.

What is the Board of Equalization?
The Board of Equalization is a three- member board with three alternates selected by the Carroll County Grand Jury to hear assessment disputes. This is an independent board and is not connected with the Board of Assessors or the appraisal staff. The Board of Equalization is required to make decisions on the facts and information presented at the hearing. Once the board has made a decision, the taxpayer and the assessor's office must either accept that decision or appeal on to Superior Court.
