The mission of the County Board of Assessors is to produce an annual tax digest that conforms to the requirements of the Georgia Law and the rules and regulations of the Georgia Department of Revenue.  Our office strives every day to be fair and equitable to the taxpayers of Candler County while providing excellent customer service. • The Board of Assessors, an independent body appointed by the Board of Commissioners, is responsible for placing fair and equalized value on all taxable property. • The Board of Comissioners sets the millage rate. • The billing and collections of taxes is the responsibility of the Tax Comissioner. • Jan. 1 of each year is the assessment date in Georgia.  Accordingly, all property must be valued for the ad valorem taxes based on its condition and use as of Jan. 1.
