It is the mission of the Sumter County Property Appraiser to fairly and equitably discover, list, and value all real and tangible personal property for the purpose of creating the annual ad valorem tax roll in accordance with applicable Florida Statutes. Unlike many states where the Property Appraiser and Taxing Authorities work together, Florida's Constitution provides a clear separation between the appraisal of property,which is done by the Property Appraiser and the setting of a Millage Rate to generate revenue, which is done by the taxing authorities.
