The website of the County Property Appraiser's Office is gaining more hits.
''We're already averaging 1,000 hits a day, and its more than 2,000 some days,'' said Property Appraiser David Ward.
Site www.qpublic.net/jefferson has been up and running for about a year.
''We keep adding things to it to make it better and better,'' Ward said.
The site is a great source of information for people involved in real estate transactions. That category of user is by far the greatest, Ward said.
You will find exact location, acreage, size of buildings on the property, appraised value, sale price, aerial views, and lots of other information about most parcels of land.
The mapping part of the site was completed about a year ago.
''This program just allows us to put it all together and make it accessible to the general public (24/7),'' he said.
According to Jim Gear (QPUBLIC), who designed the website, the County site is getting ''pretty good international hits.''
He said that in the last 190 days people from India, Canada, Brazil, Australia, Germany, and Poland have used the site to inquire about property in Jefferson County.
''In August, our proposed tax notices will be coming out,'' Ward said. ''He (Jim Gear - QPUBLIC) has already added additional bandwidth for that time because he knows people will be checking it out.''
''He's already thought about it. You've got to appreciate that kind of foresight.''
