Exemptions:

Age/Disability Exemption
The Homestead Exemption (based on age or disability status) allows taxpayers who are at least 65 years of age or who are totally disabled to receive a deduction. This deduction is up to $36,900 off of your tax assessment, and will save you money on your tax bill.

TO APPLY you must own and occupy the property (as of January 1st of the tax year), on which you apply the exemption.

AGE - You will need to bring proof of age (driver's license or personal ID) to our office & complete an application.

DISABILITY - **YYou will need your statement of benefits you receive in December to show as proof you were receiving benefits & 100% disabled as of January 1st of the year you apply and ID (red, white & blue social security card, birth certificate, driver's license or personal ID). Bring this information to our office and complete an application.

**You will also be responsible for providing us proof that you are still receiving it each year in December. You have to contact the Social Security Office in December and order a TPQY form; after receiving the form, you must bring it to our office and sign your papers. THIS MUST BE TAKEN CARE OF IN DECEMBER.

Agricultural Exemption / Deduction
The Kentucky Revised Statute 132.010 (9, 10, 11) defines agricultural land as any tract of land, including all income producing improvements of at least 10 contiguous acres in area used for the production of livestock, livestock products, poultry, poultry products and/or the growing of tobacco and/or crops including timber, or where devoted to and meeting the requirements and qualifications for payment pursuant agricultural programs and an agreement with the state or Federal government. This deduction is based on land classification according to the Agricultural Application, which is available in the PVA Office.

Property Tax Exemptions
Property that is both publicly owned and used for a public purpose is exempt from property taxation under the constitution. The property must meet both requirements before an exemption can be granted. An application for Property Tax Exemption must be completed and will be subject to Frankfort approval.
