Georgia Law (OCGA 48-5-264.1) requires property owners and occupants be provided reasonable notice prior to a site visit by the Murray County Assessors Office. The purpose of these visits enables our office to more accurately determine fair market values by updating the property records, or visiting due to a Building Permit, a Tax Return filed, an Appeal filed or a recent sales transaction.
The Appraiser will have a photo identification badge and will be driving a marked vehicle. If there is any question about the identity of the Appraiser, do not hesitate to contact our office.
The Appraiser does not set values at the time of the inspection and will only gather the necessary property information including exterior measurements, exterior photos, etc. If an adult is home, the Appraiser will want to ask some questions in an attempt to make sure records are as accurate as possible. Answering these questions is purely voluntary.
