Important Dates to Remember

January 1

The date property values are established according to their status and condition as of January 1.

Residency and ownership must be established as of January 1 to qualify for Homestead and other exemptions and classifications.

Tangible Personal Property returns are mailed.

Regular filing for Homestead and other exemptionsand classifications begin.

March 1

Filing deadline for current year for Homestead andother exemptions and classifications (including Seniors Exemption).

March 2

Begin pre-filing for next year Homestead and other exemptions.

April 1

Filing deadline for Tangible Personal Property returns (failure to file by April 1 may result in a financial penalty)

July 1

The Property Appraiser's Office submits the preliminary tax roll to the Florida Department of Revenue for review and approval.


TRIM (Truth in Millage) Notices are mailed to all property owners. Deadline to file petition to the Value Adjustment Board (VAB) is 25 days from mailing of TRIM. Deadline date is printed on bottom of notice and highlighted in yellow.


The final assessment rolls are certified to the Tax Collector for collection


Tax bills are mailed by Hamilton County


Annual exemption and classification renewals are mailed
